Closing Confirmed for Sir Frank Whittle Studio School

Sir Frank Whittle Studio School receives final approval to close at the end of the academic year 2018/19

In January The Trust announced that the Secretary of State had given a “decision in principle” to close the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School located in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. Following the announcement the Trust entered into a listening period to allow for students. parents, carers and other stakeholders the opportunity to express their views on the decision.

Further to the consideration of this process, the Minister has now given final approval to terminate, by mutual agreement, the funding agreement for the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School, hereby allowing the Studio School to close at the end of this academic year, 2018/19.

The Trust will now work with Leicestershire County Council to transfer all current Year 10 and Year 12 Studio School students to the adjacent Lutterworth College for the academic year, 2019/20. The student cohort in Year 11 and Year 13 will complete their studies and examinations as planned.

The Trust will continue to work with students and parents/carers in managing this challenging period for all over the coming months.

Kind regards
