In what seems like the blink of an eye Harvest Time is nearly upon us. This year Lutterworth and Villages Foodbank are seeking the support of individuals, schools, churches and community groups by donating items during their ‘Healthy Harvest in a Tin’ campaign.
For many years it has been tradition to donate beautifully presented baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables to Harvest Festivals, but the Lutterworth and Villages Foodbank are unable to store and use non-perishable food, and so are asking if people would kindly donate tinned fruit, vegetables and potatoes. They also continue to welcome donations of other non-perishable, in-date foods as well as essential household items such as toiletries and laundry items. Tinned fruit, vegetables and potatoes are a staple of their emergency food parcels and help too ensure that they are nutritionally balanced as possible. They are hoping the ‘Healthy Harvest in a Tin’ campaign will help restock their warehouse after a recent shortage. Many tinned food items have long shelf lives which if the campaign is a success will mean the Foodbank’s shelves will hopefully be well stocked for the coming winter months.
Posters promoting the campaign can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or if anyone has any queries please get in contact.
If an organisation has a large quantity of items to donate, the Lutterworth and Villages Foodbank would be grateful if donors would be able support their volunteers by delivering their donations directly to their warehouse. The warehouse is easily accessible from Lutterworth, Countesthorpe and the surrounding areas and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning. Please email email@example.com to arrange a suitable drop off time and to obtain directions. Lutterworth and Villages Foodbank thank people for their continued support, which enables them to help people experiencing hardship to put food on the table.
