NEWSLETTER 21st August 2018

Dear Supporters,

Thank you all for your fantastic support over the past few months by donating food and funds so generously and responding to our shortage requests. We have had a busy time due to many reasons, including the full Universal credit roll-out and transition in our areas which began in June. The school summer holidays have meant that some of our clients have struggled to find that extra meal each day for their children, when they would normally have it provided at school.

We have provided over 3,000 meals to hungry families over the past 3 months; we simply could not do that without your generosity.

We are so grateful to everyone who volunteers with us; generously giving up their time to help those less fortunate. Our warehouse and collections volunteers have been working hard to make sure that we have the right food, in the right place at the right time to give to our clients suffering from sudden financial hardship.

HARVEST 2018

We can hardly believe it but Harvest-time is just around the corner. This year we would like individuals, schools, churches and community groups to support us by donating items for our ‘Healthy Harvest in a Tin’ campaign.

Traditionally, donations to Harvest festivals include baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables but as we can only store and  use non-perishable food, we would love it if people would donate tinned fruit, vegetables and potatoes to us this year. Of course, other non-perishable, in-date foods and also essential household items such as toiletries and laundry items  will be very gratefully received too.

Tinned fruit, vegetables & potatoes are all items that we have been short of recently so it would really help us to keep our shelves stocked up with them as they are such an integral part of our emergency food parcels; helping to ensure they are as nutritionally balanced as possible.  They have long shelf lives too which will mean we will be well-stocked into the winter months.

If you would like some posters to display or have any queries, please do email info@lutterworthvillages.foodbank.org.uk

As last year, if your organisation has a large amount of food to donate that will not fit into our usual collection bins, we would be grateful if donors could please support our volunteers by delivering their food donations directly to our warehouse space.  Our warehouse is easily accessible from Lutterworth, Countesthorpe and the surrounding areas and will be open each Tuesday and Friday morning to receive your kind donations.

Please do email before delivering:
info@lutterworthvillages.foodbank.org.uk  to arrange a drop-off time and to obtain the warehouse address and directions. Thank you for your support.

Financial Donations

Alternatively, instead of donating food at Harvest-time, you may prefer to make a financial donation towards our running costs. Both one-off and regular giving donations are very much appreciated and crucial to our existence so if you do feel able to help us in this way, please click here for more information.
